Saitek PRO Flight X-65F Combat Control System for PC

Product Description

Product Description: Rule the skies with the latest Saitek X series controller - the Saitek Pro Flight X-65F Control System. Custom engineered from high grade metal castings, this is a system that is built to withstand many combat engagements. The number of controls available will cater for any pilot's needs, but the true innovation resides within the stick itself - Force Sensing technology. Click here for the Official X-65F site. What is Force Sensing? In a world first for a manufactured simulation controller, the X-65F's stick does not move; instead, like those found in real modern fighter jets, it responds to pressure that you exert on the handle, resulting in a fast, accurate and realistic response that will make you the ace in your squadron. With no moving parts and a shaft that is made from high grade steel, this provides incredible reliability and longevity. Product Features:- Metal construction for the ultimate in realism and durability. Unique force sensing stick - all input is detected from how hard you push on the stick, just like in real modern day jet fighters. This includes a force-sensing twist rudder control. Features on-the-fly adjustment of the force settings for the stick - including separate adjustments for each axis of the stick for the ultimate in stick response configuration. Dual throttle for finer control over twin engine jets, or lock the two throttles together for single engine fighters. Stick controls include: 3 x 8-way hats; 1 x 8-way thumb hat; 1 x trigger; 2 x buttons; 2 x pinkie switches; Throttle controls include: 2 x rotaries (incorporating push button controls); 1 x mouse hat; 4 x 8-way hats; 1 x 2 way 'K' switch; 1 x scroll selector; 1 x 4 position mode switch

5.0 out of 5 stars A BIG Toy for the Big Boy !!! The Rolls-Royce of Filght Sim Controllers, September 20, 2010

I am a hardcore hardware fanatic that loves technology. I got this product because it's a must, especially for a SIM addict like myself !!!!

This is not your "Average Joystick" for your "Average Sim Fan". This is purely for hardcore "Cash Rich SIM Junkies". It works great from the box out and is very easy to setup especially on windows 7-64Bit. First time user beware !!!! The Joystick has Force Sensing Technology. Meaning it does not budge,or twist, nor turn. Instead it responds to pressure from your wrist. So do not expect it to lean forward, backwards or sideways like a traditional joystick because it's not. It's the new Kid on the block !!! And it lives up to it's reputation.

On the other hand the throttle is similar to other Saitek earlier models in terms of functionality with" the additional option of separating it into two independent throttles for airplanes with 2-4 engines. The throttle's resistance can be adjusted accordingly by accessing a screw... Read more

I would give this product a 1 star if Saitek didn't do such a great job of engineering this product. It truly looks beautiful and fits my hand like a glove but the one I recieved was useless. I spent hours trying to get the stick to center, got frustrated and boxed it up for return. We aren't talking a small amount either. In some force sensing settings it was close to 1/3 the total defection. I later came accross Saiteks fix (which took 6 months after releasing the product) on the internet which required deleting some registry keys and what not. So I unpacked the product which is a lot of work since they package it very well. To be fair, I had to give it one more chance. I followed the instructions and repeated the process several times but to no avail. I am a software developer so I know my way around a computer. In fact I have written several calibration routines for strain gauge load cells in industrial applications (which is what's used for the force sensing in this stick). Load... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Great HOTAS, September 5, 2010

This review is from: Saitek PRO Flight X-65F Combat Control System for PC (Personal Computers)
Pros:
Tons of keys and hats
Dual throttle controls
Very precise
Heavy Construction

Cons:
Stiff throttle
SST can be painful
Control stick a little on the big side

This is my second HOTAS and coming from a X52, I was impressed by the additional number hats, buttons, and modes. An overall improvement is the throttle with both AB and idle detents and the force sensing stick that doesn't move hardly a millimeter. The stick has four force sensing settings with F1 being the heaviest (for very precise imputs) to F4 being the lightest (full surface deflection with minimal pressure). All can be tuned to the individuals likes for the X, Y, and Z axis.

The control stick is very large, and I have small hands. It's virtually impossible for me to manipulate the upper right hand hat that's on the stick without lifting my wrist off of the rest. The left hat on the stick can be manipulated without adjusting, but... Read more
